Elephant Camp

About the camp

Living amongst our herd for a truly immersive
elephant experience

Located on the edge of Chitwan National Park, adjacent to our Tharu Lodge the Tiger Tops Elephant Camp offers you a intimate stay with our herd of asiatic elephants. Our Philosophy is to create an immersive and forward thinking elephant experience.

This experience is bespoke and tailored for you. This allows you to connect with the elephants in a more personalised, profound and unobtrusive way. Guests can enjoy a range of elephant activities or simply spend time with the herd throughout the day to get to know their individual personalities, behaviour and habits.

Accomodation

At Tiger Tops Elephant Camp you will be staying in one of our six comfortable and fully equipped safari tents with attached bathrooms. The tents are surrounded on three sides by corrals, so you are truly immersed in the daily routine of our herd. A central dining room or 'Golghar' is the focal point of the camp overlooking one of the corals.

Things to do at
the Elephant Camp

Join our herd of elephants and experience their natural rhythm as they wake, graze, bathe, play, feed and sleep. During the day, the mahouts will take the elephants to the jungle and river to supplement their diet by grazing, provide them with an opportunity for natural exercise, and let them have a swim in the river. Accompanied by an experienced Tiger Tops naturalist on all activities, you will learn about the elephants routine, their relationship with their mahouts and their interaction with their environement.

Walking with elephants

Join our elephants and their mahouts on their daily walks through the jungle and deep into wild Rhino Country.

Elephant Camp Immersion

Allow yourself some time to simply be around the elephants and observe and learn from them.

Fodder Collection

Guests can either sit back and enjoy a picnic breakfast or even join in and try for themselves the tough job of cutting the meters high elephant grass.

Elephant sundowners

End your day by the bank of the Narayani river watching one of Nepal's famous sunsets. Here the elephants will be let loose to cool down in the water and relax, while our bar staff are on hand with cold drinks of your choice.

Testimonials

  • My husband and I spent 7 days with the Tiger Tops crew, some of which was spent at Elephant camp and then we had two amazing nights camping out on the Narayani River. The whole experience was exceptional, the staff and service was unlike anywhere else, the food was delicious, being with the Elephants was incredible! We had some beautiful close encounters with Rhino and our Jungle guide Bhim was so wonderful! I literally cried the day we left, it felt like a home away from home. Thank you and we will be back for sure. !
  • I was delighted with wildlife experiences, comfort, new friendships and hospitality like no other for 7 exceptional days. Stepping out of the vehicle and into the beautiful tropical garden settings I was greeted with a glass of cold lemonade and a refreshing facecloth. And as I followed the path past the chain free elephant corals and organic gardens to my safari tent, a smile quickly swept across my face knowing the elephants here are well cared for and so too are the guests.
  • We had the most wonderful 4 days at Tiger Tops Elephant camp. We saw lots of wild life! The most exciting part was the elephant safari walk where you can enjoy wildlife just meters away with the elephants protecting you. A special mention goes to the amazing and very professional staff. We had a great time!
  • This camp is adjacent to the tharu lodge. This family owned lodge has pioneered chain free elephants and also do not have tourists ride them. Instead enjoy a walk in the jungle with them browsing in content. Great comfortable tents and lovely food. Fantastic choice for naturalists and conservationists and all of the Safari activities available.
