Tiger Tops Newsletter - January 2019
2018 has come to an end and what an eventful year it has been here at Tiger Tops. We would like to thank all of you who came and visited and those who have supported us in various ways. With this end of year newsletter we look back at some of the highlights from our autumn season.
2018 has been a good year for tourism in general in Nepal. With a stable Government, improved infrastructure, and the Visit Nepal 2020 Campaign underway, visitor numbers broke the 1 million mark in December.
2019 is looking very promising and we hope that the country can continue to attract even more visitors. We have also shared a few of the events that we are most excited about in 2019 below.
Cape Town to Kathmandu: an adventure expedition for Rhino conservation
We are so proud here at Tiger Tops to be supporting the Cape Town to Kathmandu Expedition, who reached our Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge after a grueling 17,000 km drive from South Africa on December 8th. Run by the Kingsley Holgate Foundation the expedition was an awareness campaign for Rhino Conservation in both South Africa and Nepal. You can read more about the Kinglsey Holgate Foundation and their work on below website or follow the expedition via their Facebook page:
Elephant communication: new technology visualizes elephant vocalization
We were very excited to welcome back the researchers from the “Mammal Communication Lab“ of the University of Vienna. The scientists Angela Stöger-Horwarth and Veronika Beeck are studying animal sound production and use Acoustic Cameras to visualize the sound of elephant communication. We look forward to reading the results of their studies which we hope will help us understand our elephants and their needs better in the future. You can read more about their work here:

We were delighted to be selected as a joint winner for the John Wakefield Memorial Award for Most Inspirational Eco Lodge of the Year, 2018 by Tour Operators for Tigers India & Nepal. Tiger Tops received the award for our Tharu Lodge, Chitwan National Park.

We launch our new website!
Following a much needed revamp we are delighted to announce that our new website will go live at the beginning of January. We hope the new site is more easily navigated and more resourceful than previous iterations. Please do provide us with any feedback if you have any.
Spiritual journeys to the birthplace of the Buddha
Partnering up with Himalayan Hermitage, specialised in spiritual journeys, we are happy to announce two exceptional tours in 2019 that will take you to Buddhas birthplace and to the heart of the jungle, the land where he grew up. Join the experienced facilitators from Himalayan Hermitage as they explain about the essential Buddhist teachings and teach meditation techniques in Lumbini, and connect with nature on the following trip to Chitwan National Park, where Tiger Tops will take care of your comfort and make sure that you have the optimal conditions for reflection and unwinding.
